Are you constantly getting headaches and want some treatment other than pain pills?
Headaches come in a variety of forms and cannot be effectively treated until you know what type of headache you have. Migraine and tension headaches are two of the most common types of headaches and are easy to treat with chiropractic care.
What are the common causes of headaches?
Headaches and head pain can be severe and occur in a variety of areas around your face and head. They range from specific locations to broad areas of pain around the head. Whether it’s a migraine, cluster, or tension headache it may be caused as the result of emotional or physical stress, or a chemically related disorder. However, headaches may also be a sign of a much more serious condition. If you have headaches all the time, until you find the root of the problem they will probably not go away.
What is a migraine headache?
When there is a swelling of blood vessels involved with your headache it is called a migraine. It usually is accompanied with a one-sided and throbbing pain. More serious migraine headaches are preceded by what is known as an aura of bright light feelings of nausea, and can even induce vomiting. The pain from a migraine can be extremely severe.
The pain is caused because the arteries in your brain have pain nerves and when they are inflamed or irritated, they send out pain signals. The pumping of your heart, sends blood pulsating through your arteries, which stretches your artery walls. Every time these arteries stretch, you feel more pain!
What is a tension headache?
When you feel band-like pressure around your head it is called a tension headache. It is also not uncommon to feel tenderness, tightness, and even stiffness in the muscles behind your neck and head.
